CONTEST INFO----------------------
Hey everyone! It's time for another Kimono-Lovers contest! This time the theme is Geimyo. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, Geimyo are essentially stage names. They're generally a little more dramatic or poetic than regular Japanese names.
So how is this going to work? First anyone interested in participating must leave a comment in this journal stating their intent.
THE SIGN UP DATE HAS PASSED - NO MORE PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Once you've signed up, you'll be assigned a Geimyo at random (you will be given its english translation as well). You will then have to design a kimono, or create a piece of art featuring kimono that somehow illustrates the Geimyo you've been assigned. You're welcome to use the kimono design templates in the club gallery if you wish, or you can create your own. You can also simply draw the kimono on a model - say your favourite anime character? Both traditional and non-traditional kimono designs will be accepted. Once you've created your contest entry, please send it to the club in a note with the subject heading "CONTEST ENTRY"
To see what can be done for this competition, take a look at the following...
EXAMPLE:Geimyo: Ikkiichiyuu
Meaning: Now rejoicing, now worrying; swinging from joy to sorrow; alternating hope and fear
Art Piece: [link]Premise behind art piece: The oiran in the picture is caught in that moment of swinging between joy and sorrow.
CONTEST DATES:May 6th, 2008 - Contest participants have signed up for their geimyo.
May 29th, 2008 - All contest entries are due!
May 30th, 2008 - Contest voting will begin
June 12th, 2008 - Contest winners will be announced
PRIZES:
This time around I could really use some prize donations from club members. It doesn't have to be anything expensive, even something as simple as some journal features or a grab bag of fabric pieces would be nice. Please note the club with the subject heading "CONTEST PRIZE DONATIONS" if you have anything you'd be willing to contribute.
