The original piece is available for commenting and faving here: Subaru I distinctly recall mentioning that I would not use my sketchbook pages for drawing full pieces. Or maybe that was just to  ... but still, it seems that on that front I'm so full of fail, because this was a pain to scan and put together. But this time my careful scanning paid off!But in any case, this started out as a character design that appeared to turn into an exercise of drawing pointlessly intricate clothing. Whoops. Seems that I've been shifting towards a more Chinese style of clothing, I should shift back to Japanese. But not with her, this luxurious clothing thing seems to suit her. But this sort of makes me want to draw her twin sister, Tasuki. Who dresses as a boy. But that's another story to be told. This is Hikaru's mum drawn to see if I can capture her feminine beauty. Although she doesn't look too dangerous, one must remember that the rose does have thorns. Hence her title the Rose Princess, which actually turned out more apt than the namer intended. And, of course, her youngest child is hanging onto her. He really is a mama's boy despite what he turns into later on in life. And the thing behind her is the crest of her branch of the Family. I think I may colour this and make it a frontispiece. Or maybe I won't colour and still make it a frontispiece. Media Sketchbook Graphite |
